The family announces with deep sorrow her death at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Daughter of the late Joseph and the late Rosana (née Carrière) Ricard. Dear wife of 65 years of Louis Philippe Simard of Sudbury. Loving mother of Denis (Kim) of Sudbury, Suzanne Roy (Gaetan) of Elliot Lake, Claude (Kathryn) of Chelmsford, Berney (Jane) of Val Caron, Daniel (Kathy) of Aylmer QC and Donald (Aline) of Normétal QC. She also leaves behind her former daughter-in-law Sharon Laramin of Sudbury. Dear sister of the late Maurice (Marie-Jeanne predeceased), the late André, Lionel Ricard (Henrietta) of Elliot Lake, Lucia St. Onge (Joseph predeceased) of Chelmsford, the late Henriette Simard (surviving husband Steve of Sudbury and her predeceased husband Joe Brisson), the late Pauline Rossi (surviving husband Frank of Chelmsford), the late Yolande Nadeau (Harvey Nadeau predeceased and Jean-Paul Simard predeceased), Clemence Brosseau of Chelmsford and Fernande Poulin (Aimé predeceased) of Azilda. Agathe will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three generations of grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and her special friend Blanche Laframboise. She raised her children alone but always ensured they were fed, had clean clothes and stayed out of trouble. Playing cards with her grandchildren brought great joy to her life. She will be remembered as a plain person but that's what made her extraordinary and never complained about anything. She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Agathe will be cremated and buried with her father. A private family graveside service will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff on the palliative care floor at Health Sciences North for making her comfortable in her final days. Donations in Agathe's memory may be made to a charity of your choice and would be greatly appreciated by her family. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070.
