In loving memory of Claudette Zahra (née Bélanger) who passed away at St. Joseph’s Villa in Sudbury on Tuesday, September 11th, 2018 at the age of 78 years. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Zahra. She was totally heartbroken when he passed away in February of 1992. Loving mother of the late Deborah Provincial (surviving husband Fred of Sudbury), Edward Zahra (wife Laurie) of Sudbury, Monica Gaudette (husband Roger) of Chelmsford and Julie-Anne Potvin (husband Blair) of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Misty-Anne, Melanie, Stephanie, Adam, Brayden, Kevin, Cory, Brandon, Jordan, Ashleigh, Aleksandre, Ty and Caleb. Also survived by several great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Wilfred Bélanger, the late Gerry Bélanger (surviving wife Marge of Sudbury), the late Clifford Bélanger (surviving wife Theresa of Sudbury), the late Judy Dubois (surviving husband André of Sudbury), Patricia Desjardins (late husband Don) of Sudbury, and Ken (wife Sandra) of Garson. Claudette was predeceased by her son-in-law Douglas McTaggart. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Claudette was born in Sudbury on January 15th, 1940 to parents Brigitte (née Forest) and Urgel Bélanger (both predeceased). She spent her entire life in the Greater Sudbury area having worked a few years as a cashier at Canadian Tire in Chelmsford and in the bakery department at Loeb’s. Claudette was a proud member of the CWL at St. Alexander’s Church in Chelmsford and spent countless hours volunteering there. In her spare time while she was healthier, she enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and curling. Claudette will be remembered as a very giving person who always wanted everyone around her to be happy. She had a big heart and a good sense of humour. Her family members would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa (Garden Way) for taking such good care of her. In keeping with Claudette’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass, to celebrate Claudette’s life, will be held at St. Alexander’s Church in Chelmsford on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Interment of ashes to follow at St-Joseph’s Cemetery in Chelmsford where she will be reunited with Ronald. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society (Sudbury-Manitoulin District), in Claudette’s memory, would be greatly appreciated. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070.
