Elizabeth Holmes photo

Thanks to Jamie Dupuis for allowing us to share his gift of music

In loving memory of our wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece and grandmother Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Holmes (nee Zickar), 76 years, who passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on Sunday, August 26th, 2018 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Glendon Holmes of Levack, mother of Margaret Armstrong (Randy) of Lively, Michael Pecman (predeceased), Suzanna Higgins (Tony) of Peterborough and Robert Pecman (Vicki) of Chelmsford. Beautiful grandmother to Lisa, Melissa, Graham, Zachary, Sarah, Hannah, Jonah and Jacob. Loving sister of Elaine Bertrand (predeceased) and Edward Zickar (Aline) of Val Caron. Special niece of Mary England (Dick) of Sudbury and Amy St. John of Sudbury. Betty also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Dear friend and sister-in-law of Mary Pecman of Niagara Falls. She will also be missed by her furry children Tootie, Bootie and Baby. Betty was born in Sudbury to parents John and Louise Zickar (both predeceased). She was a doting wife and mother who loved to cook for us and we were all fortunate to be at her dinner table for one of her delicious meals and afterwards, a “doggy bag” to take home. Betty was always interested in knowing what we were serving for dinner and was willing to share her expertise in the kitchen. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass, to celebrate her life, will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Levack on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to Pet Save or the Northern Cancer Foundation, in Betty’s memory, would be greatly appreciated. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070

I am saddened to hear of Betty’s passing. My sincere sympathies to you all, and to Grampie.

I have many fond memories of Betty’s cooking and baking and her love of sharing a good meal, as well as giving tips. I often make the oven fried rice with french onion soup mix recipe she shared with me so many years ago. Her perogies too, and desserts of all sorts, especially blueberry in the summer – Mmmmmm.

May your memories of her help to fill your hearts; may she rest in peace.

    Deepest Condolences.
