In loving memory of Gilles Gauthier who passed away at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Gauthier (nee Gibeault) of Coniston. Loving father of Raymonde Gervais (Roger) of Elliot Lake, Michelle Laprise (Marcel predeceased) of Azilda, Gilles Gauthier Jr. (Marie) of Seattle, Lucie Proulx (John) of Sudbury, the late Nicole Duquette (Eugene predeceased), Roger Domingue (Lucienne) of Coniston, Marcel Domingue (Jenny) of Sarnia, Serge Gauthier (Johanne) of Sarnia and Danny Gauthier (Crystal) of Sarnia. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Clemence Gingras (Yvon predeceased) of Duparquet, Paul-Emile (Isabelle) of Brantford, the late Carmella Gingras (Ovila predeceased), Bérard (Diane) of Sarnia, Jean-Guy (Gloria) of Chapleau and Michel (Colette) of Duparquet. Predeceased by his step-daughter Alice and his infant sister Violette. Gilles was born in Stratford, Quebec on June 23, 1929 to parents Emilia and Arthur. For most of his adult life, he worked as a hoisting engineer for various companies. Some of his favourite pastimes were watching wrestling and tinkering in his garage. Gilles could fix anything. He will be remembered as an individual who was outspoken and always told the truth, a man with a great sense of humour and someone who was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved being surrounded by his loving family and his dear wife Elizabeth meant the world to him. In his opinion, she could do no wrong. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation. Cremation at Lakeview Crematorium. A committal service will take place at the Civic Cemetery Mausoleum in Sudbury on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Donations, in Gilles' memory, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
