John Laviolette photo

Thanks to Jamie Dupuis for allowing us to share his gift of music

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John “Lavy” Laviolette, 62 years, on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved father of Jonathan Laviolette of Timmins. Loving brother of Denise Aubé (husband Léon) of Timmins and the late Rick Laviolette. Cherished uncle of Stéphane Aubé (Katherine) of Sudbury, Chantal Aubé (Randy) of Saskatoon and Tania Aubé, Jason Laviolette (Donna), Clayton Laviolette (Mel) and Kayla Balko (Jon), all of Winnipeg. Dear son of Cécile and Rémi Laviolette (both predeceased). Lavy also leaves behind many close friends. Jean was born and raised in Timmins. He led a simple life and was very content with what he had. His son Jonathon was his pride and joy and spending as much time with him as possible brought great happiness to his life. Lavy enjoyed sports, especially hockey, tennis and football. Playing a good game of Chess was one of his favourite pastimes. Ti-Jean also loved reading, listening to music and watching movies. He could often be spotted around Timmins on his bike, even during the winter months. Lavy will be remembered as a “happy go lucky” kind of guy who could always make people laugh. He leaves us with so many great memories and will be missed by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation at Lakeview Crematorium. Donations in memory of Lavy may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, a charity that he had supported on many occasions in the past. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070

My sincerest condolences to you Jonathan and Denise (and Stephane, Chantal and Tania plus the Winnepegers Jason, Clayton and Kayla) … Lavy and I shared many good times together and few good games of chess (he would always win)… Man, Lavy could be so obstinate in his beliefs and statements and get you so frustrated until the moment when he would make you laugh like crazy just by putting a different spin on it making it all seem totally ridiculous. I think he did this just to ‘get your goat’. I’ll miss him. No one else like him that’s for sure … his friend, Muscles … rest in peace Lave … Rene Allard in Toronto
