It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Laura Ann Diniro (nee Camilucci) on August 8th, 2017 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Devoted wife of Guido Diniro (predeceased January 2000). Loving and adored mother of Leanne (husband Richard Daypuk) of Sudbury and Steven (wife Jill Innes) of Toronto. Cherished Nonni of Vanessa and Jenna Daypuk of Sudbury, and Ellie and Nathan Diniro of Toronto. Dear daughter of the late Enio and Mafalda (Longarini). Special sister of Norma Morin (Gerry predeceased), Dora Grimaldi (Frank; both predeceased), Jack Camilucci (predeceased; wife Patricia), Gord Camilucci (Judy) of Niagara Falls and Arlene Sukey (Jim) of Sudbury. Special sister- in-law of Maria Thibault. Much loved auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Laura grew up in Copper Cliff’s “Little Italy”. She was employed for 30 years with INCO as a clerk stenographer and retired in the compensation department. Laura loved working and instilled a hard work ethic in her children. After retirement Laura was very involved with the Copper Cliff Italian Club, holding many positions on the Executive Committee and was past President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She worked tirelessly in the kitchen, cooking for the Thursday night buffets and making pasta and lasagna to raise funds for many charities. She utilized exceptional organizational skills as the Convenor of the Northern Ontario Ladies Auxiliary. After retirement in 1994, came the new role of Nonni. She took great pride in the daily interests and activities of her grandchildren. She attended every dance recital, singing performance, musical theatre and sporting event in Sudbury. When visiting Toronto, she did the same. She had a very important role in her grandchildren’s lives. She was a familiar face at St. Raphael Elementary School. She helped out in her granddaughters’ classrooms and went on many of their school outings. She was “Nonni” to everyone. Laura loved to cook and bake and was always making sure people were well fed. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone she could. She was an inspired mentor and dedicated mother to her children, and she cherished their spouses. Laura was the heart and soul of the family. Her legacy as a Mother, Nonni, Sister, Auntie and friend will live on in all of us. Life will never be the same without her. Memorial mass to be held at St. Stanislaus Church in Copper Cliff, Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice (by cheque please) would be appreciated. A celebration of her life will follow at the Copper Cliff Italian Club, 7 Craig Street, Copper Cliff, Ontario. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070
