Surrounded by her loving family, Lily Ross passed away at Finlandia Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of 50 years to Aimé Ross (predeceased). Loving mother of Eilene Wendorf (husband Frank) of Sudbury and the late Richard Ross. Cherished grandmother of Patrick (Paula), Mike (Amanda), Sarah (Malcom), Jennifer and Jessica. She was “Mimi” to her great-grandchildren Madison, Alyssa, Scarlett and Lauren. Dear sister of the late Reino Ylinen (Marion). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and special friends Ida Wendorf and Gerti Kitts. Lily was born in Sudbury on November 14th, 1935, daughter of Tynne (nee Laurila) and Eino Ylinen, both predeceased. For many years, she worked as a school bus driver and also operated a bait and tackle business with her husband. Lily enjoyed the great outdoors and spent many happy times fishing and camping with family and friends. She loved all animals and especially her many canine friends over the years. Some of her favourite pastimes were reading, crossword puzzles and playing bingo. Lily’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Finlandia Village for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Lily during the many years she was a resident there. Special thanks to Kim and Allison at Palvelukoti. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation at Lakeview Crematorium. A celebration of Lily’s life will be held at a later date. Donations to Wild at Heart (Wildlife Refuge Centre in Lively) would be greatly appreciated in her memory. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070.

Eilene, I was very saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. I remember her laugh, and the crazy fishing adventures our families would go on together. Great memories. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.
