In loving memory of Mary Brand Boyd (née Diamond), of Copper Cliff, who died peacefully, with loved ones at her side on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Beloved mother of Alison Boyd, Anne Boyd and Alfred Boyd. Dear sister of Elizabeth Diamond. Loving grandmother of Argyll, Livingston, Fox-Maule, Ferguson, Scotia, Alexander, Robin, Rachel, Saffron and Samantha. Mary was born in Scotland on October 4, 1927. She came to Canada in July 1957 and had been a resident of Copper Cliff for over 50 years. Mary had worked at the Copper Cliff Post Office and prior to that as a nurse. Mary will be remembered by her family as gentle, caring, compassionate, loving, selfless, generous and giving. Granny always remembered our special occasions and made sure we were prepared with school supplies each September. She was a role model to us through her honesty, determination, pride, graciousness, independence and strength. She taught us to work hard, and seek balance in life. She was a canny Scot with a quick wit and dry sense of humour - she made us laugh at ourselves. She provided wise and honest guidance. She had a wonderful sense of curiosity and always interested to learn. She was ever resourceful and creative, an avid reader and gardener and a true environmentalist ahead of her time. Donations to the Sick Kids Hospital, in Mary's memory, would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070
