Phyliss Julian photo

Thanks to Jamie Dupuis for allowing us to share his gift of music

At 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st, 2017, our much cherished wife, mom and nanny became our angel and earned her wings. Phyllis Hazel Julian (nee Stevens) worn born to Osborne and Beatrice (nee Cryderman) on January 12th, 1939 and raised in Wahnapitae with her brothers Clair (Anne-Marie predeceased) and the late Morris (Sheila). On November 23rd, 1957, Phyllis married her soul mate Desmond Julian (Ampah) in Coniston. After residing in the Ottawa valley for a short time, they moved to Wahnapitae to raise four children. She will be forever missed by her husband as well as her children Kevin, Steven (Louise), Holly (Patrick Murphy), and Ivy- Rose (Dean Martin). Nanny has become a guardian angel to her grandchildren Alex, Marc, Danielle, Tyler, Stephanie, Ryan (predeceased 2014) and Robyn as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was a pet mom all her life and will be missed by Minnie-PooPoo. She looks forward to joining all of her previous fuzzy companions. In her younger years, Nan enjoyed swimming in the Wahnapitae River, catching fireflies in jars and she learned to sew her own clothes. She was a fixture at Wahnapitae Grocery for many years when she worked for the Kotsios family. Nanny loved music and as her sons grew up, they inherited that love. She managed their band “Eastbound Expedition” keeping them busy, they were a hometown favorite at “The Rock Hotel” in Wahnapitae. Nanny enjoyed family dinners and special occasions. She made the very best turkey gravy and blueberry pies. Neither of her daughters learned the secret so we will just have to check her recipe boxes and books to see what we’re missing. In her retirement years, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, a challenging word search, Judge Judy, watching figure skating all throughout her life, following her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs with Ampah as well as fishing in Grassy Narrows. They enjoyed each other’s company in the shady evenings in the gazebo watching their Minnie hiding under the rhubarb leaves in their yard. Special thanks to Jenna from Bayshore Home Health Care Services, Claire Warren N.P. from Maison McCulloch Hospice and Dr. Bill. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation at Lakeview Crematorium. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation in Sudbury, in her memory, would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070
