Robert Longpre photo

Thanks to Jamie Dupuis for allowing us to share his gift of music

In loving memory of Robert Longpré who passed away at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Wednesday, October 3rd 2018 at the age of 67 years. Beloved husband of Patricia “Pat” (nee Birmingham) of Sudbury. Loving father of Lyndsi and Lauren, both of Sudbury. Special Papa of his three cats. He is survived by two brothers. Also survived by his loving mother-in-law Yvonne Birmingham, and his in-laws, Bill and Carol Birmingham, and Pierre Caron (Wendy, predeceased). Rob will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Ben (“Cunningham”), Lynn, Joshua and Rebecca. Best friend of Fred and Gail Donivan of Chapleau. Robert was born in Chapleau on June 1st 1951 to Vada (nee Constantineau) and Maurice Longpré both predeceased. On June 25th 1988, he married the love of his life Pat. Some of his favourite pastimes were spent in the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and picking blueberries. An avid sports fan, Rob enjoyed watching hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens and Sudbury Wolves. Rob will be remembered as a very family-oriented man who was very proud of his two daughters. He was an excellent story teller and master of the bad dad joke. When Rob became your friend, you were a friend for life. In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations made in his memory to PetSave would be greatly appreciated by Rob and his family. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North. (705) 470-7070.

I will miss you so much. We had many laughs along the way and amazing memories (many funny ones) a few at my expense. You were always a very proud man of your family and it always something you talked and boasted about whenever you had the chance. We had some great times together catching a few ball games in Ottawa and Sudbury Wolves games over the years. I am very sad to see you leave us so early in life but happy that you will not be suffering anymore. I know you are not alone as Wendy is right there along your side and will help guide you through your journey in heaven. She will also be with Pat and the girls giving them the strength needed to move forward with their lives with out their husband and father. I will definitely miss your bad dad jokes you could always count on those to make you smile as bad as they were sometimes.

I will miss you my brother until we meet up again.

Sending all my love, courage and strength to my sister-in-law Pat and my nieces Lyndsi and Lauren.

My wife and I met Robert briefly last fall on our way to visit our daughter in Winnipeg. I found out that Robert was my 2nd cousin through Ancestry thanks to Lyndsi. My mother and Robert’s father were cousins and I was able to provide Robert and Lyndsi with old family photos and stories much to his delight. We had a brief visit and supper with Robert, Pat, Lyndsi and Laurin. They were very warm and welcoming. I was great to discover this branch of my family tree.
    Rest in peace Robert.
